One of the best screen-capture apps on the market today, Snagit is a well-thought-out, reliable, and efficient tool. Snagit’s rivals, such as Ashampoo Snap, Screencast-O-Matic, and Windows Snip and Sketch, don’t work well together. While Ashampoo Snap offers many of the same features as Snagit at a lower price, Snagit’s $5 premium gives you more options. Screen-O-Cast has a lot of features for free, but its commercial version can’t quite match Snagit’s performance.

Windows users can of course open up Snip and Sketch for simple screen captures, but it won’t be enough for those who want to pay for a better experience. Snagit is the best option, given the circumstances.
